Our History

Two Decades of Ministry in Colorado!

The Christ Center belongs to God. In 2006 His ownership and purpose for it became apparent.

The Executor of a family estate sold a piece of land to a developer at a discount solely because that family would have loved a ministry center on their land as was proposed by the developer.

In keeping with the promise to the Executor, the developer donated one third of an acre to the Christ Center to build a “third space” ministry focused on bringing the gospel to the local university students.

A capital campaign initiated during the 2008 recession exceeded its financial goal by almost one hundred percent in the span of five months and construction began. This Christ Center building opened in 2009 birthing Four Winds Coffee and Tea, a business-as-a-ministry outreach to students studying at what is now known as Colorado Mesa University.

God used this ministry, which started in a small house on Kennedy Avenue in 2004, mightily to strengthen campus ministries and to help build bridges of cooperation between local churches and the ministries serving students, while demonstrating the love of Jesus. Then it expanded to include the people of this community. Because of this spiritual well, or third space, the lives of countless students and others have been impacted for the Kingdom.

In 2019 God made it possible to expand internationally and build a second third space ministry in Málaga, Spain. Cuatro Vientos Café y Té started out as a coffee shop that transformed in 2023 to a community space renamed Cuatro Vientos Space focused on reaching the 40,000 students at the University of Málaga and drawing them into God’s plan.

God has used people who prayed and fasted. He has used people who contended for this ministry often persevering through intense struggles. And he used people who generously joined in with financial donations as well as giving their time and energy. We have seen many miracles during the creation and maturing of the Christ Center ministries because followers of Jesus saw our vision and joined in God’s work – using a place that is not home, not school, not work and not church to uniquely reach those in need.

We look forward to the future and seeing who God will call to do His unique work among university students, our leaders in the not-too-distant future. To God be all the glory!
